When you start creating your own characters and backgrounds for your 2D animations, you will find that there are two methods you can use. Vector and raster.

The question is, which one should you use, and when should you use it.

In this video I look at both these methods and share my thoughts on when to use them.

I was looking for some info on vector vs raster specifically for print design. I did think of trying to learn animation 'one day'. After watching your video, 'one day' might be coming much sooner.

Excellent video. Love the level of detail and examples.

Thank you, Keep up the good work. A question I am struggling with this and might be missing something really simple.
The move from CTA4 to CTA5 using Vector: When you draw using vector and you have multiple layers and colour...
How do you combine them retaining the vector (and not combining into one colour ? Or, am I doing this all wrong ? Also. if you have a vector shape and you add any kind of effect to it, it becomes pixel... I feel we need a video explaining this. specifically with layers and retaining vector for SVG export... Hope you get my question and it makes sense. 😊

Very informative! Is there a difference when it comes to size of the file? Is raster more taxing when it comes to memory? If I work with Vector lines, would I be less susceptible to crashes? Thanks

Can raster be as good for characters? If I just avoid zooming in?
And if I would zoom in or out (in frame by frame) would it work to just make the different frames and drawings bigger or smaller?
