It's a common and very effective strategy to use a peace 'carrot' stick backed by threat of economic and military force if necessary. Pres. Ronald Reagan was the last president to use this technique successfully and well.

So...yes, shake hands, and meet wherever and whenever possible. At the same time, impose economic penalties, and stage military assets in the greatest strength ever since the Korean War.

ALL of these things, Pres. Trump has done well, and deserves a TON of credit.
