Should you Buy New or Pre Owned Watch

Great points, I personally buy a mix of new and pre owned. If I can't afford a new watch I want, then I buy used if I can or if the new watch is way overpriced then I'll look pre owned too. Had a few issues with used watches a long the way but as long as you're careful and have your wits about you and know your rights, then there's no issue really.

I accidentally jumped into used vintage pieces first, and I think it's a truly valuable experience that all watch enthusiasts should try. Doing the research necessary to get a solid (or even legit) deal is a great way to learn about how watches are built and function. I also found that it sharpened my eye for build quality and aesthetics; looking at dozens of say, used Certinas or something, you start to *feel* when all the elements are working together vs when things feel "off" on a frankenwatch.

That said, I mostly buy new today. Partly this is a function of my changing interests (solar and bluetooth features, microbrands, etc.) But it's also just a more frictionless experience. Fewer worries about research, authenticity, or hidden problems, and even today's most affordable watches are frequently built more robustly and finished better than many retro finds.

Very 'wisdomous' haha that should be a word! Tbh I was not open to getting a pre-owned watch or pre-owned anything, but I've really opened my mind up to it and now I can see cases where pre-owned items (specially watches) is actually the smarter and better way to go!
