That was AWESOME!! One of the main reasons I follow you is that, not only are you a fantastic player and teacher, you’re humble and believe the music comes first! We will always have something to learn. Thanks for sharing Josh!

A lot of good advice here and clear guidance on how to execute the intro and beginning melody of a magnificent piece that so many guitarist take great liberties with. We have all heard the super fast so called virtuosic approaches to this music that bear little resemblance to what Tarrega had written and in some regards we have been conned into thinking that this is what we should aim for ourselves. Calming things down and paying greater attention to the wonderful subtleties both rhythmically and melodically does the genius of the composer more justice and leads to deeper understanding and appreciation of this piece. Thank you for showing this it has opened my eyes and ears and has started me off on a new adventure!

Im very indebted to you for where Im at with guitar Josh, Im a guitarist of almost 10 years but stopped progressing once I knew how to play chord progressions like many guitarists do. At the start of the first quarantine I stumbled across Brandon Ackers channel, if you dont know him I would highly recommend checking him out as he is a fantastic guitarist with a brilliant interpretation of Capricho Arabe. I had never had a huge interest in flamenco and classical guitar before then, but I found your channel and learned Capricho Arabe and Chopin nocturne in Eb and was instantly hooked on classical guitar. I bought my first proper nylon string classical a few months later in December, (a yamaha CG192SF) and Ive never had as much fun with guitar as I am having now. Ive also progressed further in the past year with all the free time than any other year of my life. Thanks for these videos, we are very grateful for the excellent resource. Huge respect from here in Ireland 🙌 🙌

Josh, a true teacher has the humility to learn form others and then openly share with his students. I love this piece and play it as a favorite. I am amazed by the never ending journey (at our respective levels) of guitar that we have embarked upon - there is so much to learn. You are a terrific teacher - many thanks for teaching us not just the pieces, but the humility it takes to achieve greatness!

Thank you so much Joshua. This is going to be so useful to me and many others!! Much like all the videos that you have posted over the years. It’s a great idea. And it’s nice seeing someone of your talent still learning with excitement and passion. I like this quote by Epictetus “It is impossible for a man to learn what he thinks he already knows”.

Hi Joshua. This is fantastic thank you, It is a great opportunity to see the subtleties that make a beautiful piece sound beautiful. Tips like making sections sound like a cello and the use of the right hand rests for example. And thank you for exposing yourself, it takes courage. This type of interactive video is truly special.
Thanks again

Kia ora koutou. If you haven't heard of Andrea de Vitis then ask yourself where have you been?! Seriously though I managed to get Andrea to watch my performance of Capricho Arabe and in this video (the first of two) he analyses my performance and offers some amazing ways to improve it! Let your fingers fly!!!

Wow, this was fantastic. What a great treat to see the learning actually happening. Thanks for sharing and I find it so great that Andrea allowed you to share this with us as well. It was very cool to have the breaks in his lesson when you were explaining each of his recommended technique and interpretation to us. This is one of my favorite guitar compositions.
Thanks, John
