Kevin Benavides Wins Dakar 2023 - 43 seconds Ahead of Toby Price

After 14 stages, KTM factory rider Kevin Benavides has won the 2023 Dakar. The Argentinian is 43 seconds ahead of his teammate Toby Price (AUS) after 44 hours and 27 minutes. Skyler Howes (USA) is third on the same bike, 5 minutes behind, but in the Husqvarna livery, with the KTM brands occupying the entire podium. For KTM it is the 17th victory in the toughest rally in the world, which covered a total of 8549 kilometers this year, of which 4706 in the 14 clocked competition stages.
Today's stage was certainly not a 'show lap', but extremely exciting, because there were only very small differences between the motorcyclists in the top. After 167 kilometers of connection, the fight for victory began over a short stage of 138 kilometers, where the riders covered about 100 km. of the finish in Dammam. Toby Price started the special 12 seconds ahead of the eldest of the Benavides brothers, with a reversed running order making things even more difficult. It was precisely in this stage that it proved difficult for Price to tap the small circles around the waypoints, so that the winner of 2016 and 2019 lost just too much time on Benavides, who did everything right.
