Hypovolemic shock nursing review of the treatment, interventions, managements, and pathophysiology in preparation for the NCLEX exam.
Hypovolemic shock occurs due to low fluid volume in the intravascular system.
Signs and symptoms of hypovolemic shock include: tachycardia, hypotension, cold/clammy skin, low urinary output, altered mental status
Treatment for hypovolemic shock includes fluid replacement via crystalloid, colloid, blood, or blood products and correcting the cause of shock (relative or absolute hypovolemic shock).
Nursing interventions for hypovolemic shock include: monitoring circulation, oxygenation, positioning in modified trendelenburg position, administered of IV fluids, obtaining IV access via two site with a large gauge access, hemodynamic monitoring etc.
