Funny she says there is a surplus; but they're operating without an approved budget.

She is a public servant, there's already sufficient evidence that she has been bleeding the town's funds dry for personal benefit. She refuses to take responsibility and acountability for spending decisions.... but she wants to voice concern about being restricted from spending until the finance folks can untangle her mess of a spending spree so they can determine what funds they realistically have available as well as a budget that was likely decimated by her frivolous spending for personal benefit. Maybe she is right and there are other interests working against her... with zero evidence outside of her own poor judgement and behavior?🤔

In Illinois, the punishment for embezzlement depends on the value of the stolen property and the circumstances of the crime:
Class A misdemeanor
If the value of the stolen property is less than $500, the punishment is up to one year in prison and a fine of up to $2, 500.
Class 3 felony
If the value of the stolen property is between $500 and $10, 000, the punishment is two to five years in prison and a fine of up to $25, 000.
Class 2 felony
If the value of the stolen property is between $10, 000 and $100, 000, the punishment is three to seven years in prison and a fine of up to $25, 000.
Class 1 felony
If the value of the stolen property is between $100, 000 and $500, 000, the punishment is four to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to $25, 000.
