The Differences Between FLVS Full Time and Flex Explained

Here is a short description of the main points of difference between Florida Virtual School Full Time, and FLVS FLEX (Part Time). It is VERY important to know these major differences, and it does NOT have to be mysterious, nor confusing, at all.

A state issued high school diploma is NOT required by any university, college, tech school, etc. EVER, anywhere, at any time!

I'm a senior from Louisiana and am glad to know that I can still get a diploma with the Flex Program.

This was an amazing breakdown. I feel less stressed and confused about which route to enroll my kiddies. Thank you for the enlighten views and transparency.

I wish I had watched this video six months ago. After having my daughter in Christian private school and lastly a special school, ( there were many autistic and troubled older kids there). She was 12 at the time and was being bullied daily by students in their late teens. After the principal decided he wasn't going to punish the older students, I pulled her out!
My daughter was in FLVS FT for maybe two months. She was overwhelmed and I was overwhelmed. I initially "thought" I was signing her up for a program like FLEX, that is explained here.
I was so wrong she was put into Full-Time FLVS. It almost seemed like the people, whoever they were, insisted on putting her in full time. I told them she struggled, but they did what they wanted. By listening to this video I can pretty much tell the folks at FLVS that I want her in FLEX and I'll pick her coursework.
Thank you so much for opening my eyes and giving me my power as a parent, back 😁

Wow! Thank you so much for the much needed information. I have been debating on signing up my daughter for homeschool for the past 2 years. I was researching and watching YouTube and I was still a little confused between Virtual Public School (structured under a regular public school year schedule) vs regular homeschooling (for me it meant that I had to buy all material, do lesson plans and actually be the teacher and teach) which had me worried about running into a lesson that I might not fully remember how to do it. Now because of this video, I have learned about FLEX which is EXACTLY what I need in order for my daughter to improve and move in her own pace. She can go quickly through the lessons that are her strength and can slow down and focus more on the lessons that she might be struggling with. Public school in Florida has been so harsh when it comes to getting the kids ready for the dreaded FSA tests. Kids get stressed out. Teachers get stressed out. Everything is so rushed.

I needed this information so badly. Thank for sharing. My son was in FLVS full time about 3 years ago but it was an overloaded schedule, I think . He is now back in public school but it just does not work for him. Knowing about Flex program makes me so happy, thanks to you both!!!

thank you for all the information I enrolled my high schooled in flvs flex this past December and I love it and completely agree The teachers he has had so far have been awesome. I have had more contact with these teachers then I have had with any of the teachers from the public school system and they are always there to help my son.

We'll be moving to Florida this summer, and I was really lost about starting the homeschooling process. Thank you so much for making this decision and process easier. I appreciate you both!

I wanted to say thank you so much for the information. We moved from Connecticut so we had to purchase classes through the keystone school. The school was super challenging she got through the tenth grade but longer than expected. It took her practically two years. A year into being in Florida I realized omg my daughter is now 17 and needs to Learn to drive so I just started the flex for the one class but now I have confidence to keep her in the flex and drop Keystone May also end the confusion.

I watched this video 1 year ago when I first started and again today. It was much clearer to me today after we have already been doing flex. I caught quite a few things I did not know and you answered some questions we still had. Thank you for all your family does! 😁

omg, you guys are a god send. I have been made to feel like it is impossible to home school my 8 year old bc of the requirements. The public school system is failing him badly bc he was a late diagnosis ADHD. We have him in counseling and he is excelling, except in academics, bc they only offer additional help 3 times a week for a half hour at a time. He has an IEP, that isn't doing anything, but putting a lable on him. They have him in his grade level class, and he is so far behind, he can't be taught the same as the others. He has been called stupid, has been made to feel like he has behavioral issues, bc he is sitting there bored to death, bc he doesn't know what is going on. I love, love, love your videos. I was bullied today at the virtual school office for my county this morning, when I took them all the paperwork to enroll 2 of my children. They made me feel like it was impossible. I am not a mother who lays down and accepts that. I am starting my research, and found yall, and thank goodness. Because you have answered so many questions for me. I am so thankful! I am going to be watching all your videos now. I just printed out my notice of intent, and can't wait to email to them! Here we go....I just got goose bumps. I am going to make my child smart, I am going to help in excel, I am going to get him up to pace and then beyond! Thank you again!! Happy Holidays! Angela

Oh, quesiton, bc he has an IEP with public school. Can I enroll him into FLVS flex? Do I necessarily have to inform them of the IEP? I was told this morning that bc of the IEP, no one will accept him in a virtual type of school. He is in 2nd grade, failed 1st grade, was held back, then promoted to 2nd grade, even though he wasn't really ready. I know he needs to start at a first grade level and work up from there. Can you advise on this?

I wish Ms. Kitchen had sent me your way last year when we first enrolled. We initially signed our daughter up for full-time, but being a travel photographer that was impossible. After speaking to the superintendent about our needs she recommended FLEX, but details were limited. Today's surprise email of "where's her evaluation?" was a shock. Thank you so much for all your help!

just wanted to say thinks. im about to put my daughter into homeschooling thur k12 cause my husband is traveling for work and we are going to be going with him. but k12 just wanted to straight sign her up for full time and saying we will have to go somewhere for testing which would be hard for us at times, even the set scheduling is going to be hard at times so thanks to you both ive realized that there are other ways to do this with her like flvs flex. now i just got to figure out how to enroll her in it lol
