Показать описание
We teamed up with the local Lexington, Kentucky, Sons of the American Revolution (SAR), and the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) to recognize and honor 28 Revolutionary Patriots. Lexington is full of Revolutionary War veterans due to the area’s popularity with land grants for military service. Most of the veterans in this video were buried in somewhere else because for most Lexington Cemetery did not exist before they passed away. In this video, the group travels around the cemetery to each grave where a few words were spoken by Patrick Wesolosky, President-Elect of the Lafayette Chapter of the SAR. An American flag was placed at each grave and if their spouse was buried next to them, their graves were presented with a carnation flower.
The list of Patriots in this ceremony is impressive and is full of high-ranking officers, and connections to names such as Abraham Lincoln, Daniel Boone, Henry Clay, the Marquis de Lafayette, and most of the founding families of the area. Another person of interest the is recognized is Mary Desha, one of the four founders of the DAR. Her grave is presented with a flower from each DAR member present.
This event took place on July 1, 2022. During the event is was approximately 95 degrees and it poured rain in the middle of it. Those in attendance were not fazed by the elements and were very eager to take part in the ceremony. Like one of the SAR members present said, “It’s one thing to speak of your respect and how you honor someone, it’s another thing to actually go out and practice that honor. Family Tree Nuts was proud to practice our honor for these Patriots.
