Flamenco is a Romani dance form and ancient Romanis were migrants from India who were taken as labours from North western India to Europe. So we see impression of Indian culture in Eastern Europe.

I am a flamenco dancer and one of the first things taught to me when I first started was the history behind flamenco. It was brought to Spain by nomads who came from India and who used to stare at the girls dancing inside the temples and consequently mimic them. Eventually, they brought their culture with them. They are called gypsies now, they originally came from the Punjab area. The dance became a mixture of Jewish, Arab and regional Spanish which became a form of expression for the gypsies because they could not express their discontent or feelings since they were considered a lower cast in Spain. So they did it through singing and dancing; that's why each "palo" or style of flamenco has te name of a feeling; for example, alegrías=happiness, Soledad or solea= loneliness, burlerías=mockery, and so forth. It is amazing how humans express their feelings.

That was amazing ! I only wish that the Kathak moves had more foot tapping, as foot tapping is an integral part of Kathak too, not just Flamenco. I was expecting the ghungru to make all those beautiful sounds with Svetlana's foot tapping. Hope you include it in future fusions. But overall a wonderful job !
