To everyone watching this video: buy the MM+, not the Anbernic, then install Onion.

I adore my Miyoo Mini Plus. I'm blown away by the build quality for the price. And now that it has AdHoc multiplayer without having to connect to a wifi hotspot (new OnionOS update) it's pretty much unbeatable in it's category. So yeah, nah, absolutely buy it.

My Miyoo Mini Plus doesn't have any of these issues. You must have got one from a bad run. Mine is completely fine.

I came here to say I bought the Miyoo Mini Plus.

You're going to give people unnecessary buyer's remorse.

There is one GIANT problem from RG35XX. The sensitivity of the D-pad sucks.

I go the RG35xx and my friend has the miyoo mini plus. The Dpad, buttons, screen and overall build quality felt a lot better on the miyoo mini to me. The screen wasn’t as bright but the colors seemed to pop more. The Dpad felt way better and the rear buttons were tight and didn’t make any noise unlike in the anbernic.

Oh an anbernic ad disguised as a review of the Mini Plus 😄
I own both devices and I think that you forget some details :
- The RG35xx doesn't have wifi, this is a big lack when you see Netplay, Easy Netplay, pokemon trading, OTA, FTP, SMB, telnet, Scraper and others which are available on the Plus.
- The plastic of the RG35xx feel really cheap in the hand compared to the Miyoo one (it seems to be subjective but that's really my point of view).
- The D-Pad of the RG35xx is bad compared to the Mini Plus... I think that it is a major point as the D-pad is often use :D
- Garlic is a closed source OS maintened by one man, Onion OS is an open source OS maintened by a team which collaborate with her community.
- The Miyoo Mini Plus is not specially hot if you switch wifi off, if one day the RG35xx will have wifi it will be also hot as a wifi board can easily consume 180mA in continue.
- The buzzing sound is audible only when you use very low luminosity in a very quiet place.
- I have never seen backlight problems and the audio problems that you mention (tested on my 3 devices from different production batches).
- Battery life is a lot better on Miyoo Mini Plus.
- HDMI is clearly a useless feature because the user process is clearly impractical.
- The Mini Plus has a better design, it's more cut and it fit more easily in the pocket.

There is probably more to say, but the comments below already clearly show that this review is clearly made by an Anbernic fan.

I have both, and preffer my MM+

Started using the RG35XX since it arrived earlier, but once I received the MM+ the build quality side by side is way better on the MM+. Setting it up and having the WiFi came in really handy. Both devices make static noise. Unless you are playing late at night on your bed where there is no other sound, you'll notice it. For me it doesn't matter since I usually play on-the-go where I can't even play with sound too loud. Heating is an issue both have (a bit more on the MM+ but nothing too hot). RG35XX rattles a lot and ended not using the micro-HDMI as I though I would, however, the WiFi came in really hadny when adding covers and updating. Apps are also way better on OnionOS over GarlicOS.

How about the rattly 35xx and the sloppy glue on the back of transparent 35xx? Or the hard to replace battery on the 35xx?

Good video, I'll share my own experience as an owner of several Miyoo mini devices (3 regular, 2 plus), and as someone who got an RG35XX around the same time as I got my violet Mini + (about a week ago).

It is clear to me that the devices are both similar and distinct in many ways.

1. Build Quality - Overall, the RG35XX just feels way more "sturdy" than than either the Mini or Mini plus. I feel confident holding it, I don't feel like it will break if it hits the carpet from 3-4 feet high. It just "feels" like a more solid devices.
2. Screen - The Miyoo have better colors, and less washed out feel, but the RG35XX has a bit of a brighter display. My own experiences with the Miyoo screens have been bad though. One has a few dead pixels, another has "flexibility" on the screen, when I wipe it down with a microfiber cloth, the screen "pops" almost like its starting to come off. Apparently Miyoo uses poor adhesive on their screens, and these have been known to come off. On the other hand, the 35XX screen feels WAY more solid, and after looking up videos on how each screen is adhered to the devices, its evident Anbernic takes WAY more care with making sure the screens are held in place.
3. Speakers - The RG35XX imo has WAY better speakers than all of my Miyoo units. 2/5 of my units even have slightly distorted speakers, definitely not impressed.
4. Hand feel - They both feel awesome, but I prefer the hand feel of the Miyoo just a bit more, because it is a thicker devices. That said, the RG35XX is a bit of a taller device, so some may prefer this as well.
5. Buttons - I like both devices buttons, but I have to give a win to the Miyoo (even though one of my units ended up with a defective D pad, which I had to get exchanged, and now the exchange unit has some screen issues, so I'll prob send it back too). Overall, the button feel of the Miyoo is just a bit better, especially the triggers. Way easier to press on games that require them.
6. Battery Life - Okay, so the RG35XX has a smaller battery than the Mini plus, but I find that battery life is WAY better on the RG35XX. I don't know if its because of Garlic OS optimization vs. Onion, but I get about 40 min more on the RG35XX than on either of my Mini + devices.
7. Additional Features - RG35XX has two SD card slots, + HDMI port, Miyoo has WIFI, take your pick.
8. Operating systems - Stock systems, Miyoo wins hands down. No contest. However, if you are willing to tinker and spend time modifying the devices, installing Onion and Garlic OS, you will have a better experience. Overall, Onion OS is better, feels more mature, feature rich, but Garlic OS is still great.

Conclusion - For me, given my bad experiences with Miyoo's build quality, where 3/5 of my systems have had some issues, ranging from dead pixels, bad speakers, lose screens, bad D pad, etc., I have to give the win to the Anbernic. It just feels way more solid, has not had nearly as many issues as the Miyoo, and while it may not be as stylish looking as the Miyoo, and it may not be as initially eye catching, I trust it way more to work, and stand the test of time.

If you take anything away from my post, let it be this: These are cheap, Chinese devices. The odds of you getting one that works flawlessly is not good. These do not have the same quality control as a system from Nintendo, Microsoft, or a big reputable company. Getting parts/exchanges if you buy directly from the manufacturer is a pain in the ass. You are better off buying from amazon, getting free returns for 30 days, and examining your device closely when it arrives. Pay a 20% more for that peace of mind/ability to exchange easily. Its worth it.

I’ve got a couple MiyooMini Plus devices. Never had any of these issues.

I remember my original Game Boy, it had that weird buzzing from the speaker as well. The Miyoo Mini Plus buzzing would probably be really annoying if I didn't have this memory, but it oddly comforts me and makes the experience feel more like the Game Boy experiences circa 1990.

Can’t watch this. Your audio work needs to be improved. You’re talking to close to the mic, making it come out as soft but punchy/bassy. Very uncomfortable to listen to. Just letting you know so you can improve. Best of luck.

I think the biggest problem with both Miyoo and Anbernic is the variations in parts used from different production runs, and differences in build quality between units. My friend's Miyoo Mini Plus had a truly incredible screen, but I've heard newer units now have a much poorer display. I've got an Anbernic RG353V which has a brighter patch at the top like in your video, and also has audible crackle and distortion through the headphone jack, which I've heard they all do. My initial unit had to be returned as one of the micro SD card slots failed. With either company there seems to be an element of luck regarding how good the unit you receive might be.

First video I've ever seen saying anbernic was better than the miyoo mini 🤔

For me the biggest selling point for the RG35XX was the fact it has slightly more processing power all ps1 games run perfectly on it some games the miyoo can be a little choppy
