Hello,

I would like to come and pay a visit...if you allow that? I'm not but a few hours away...

I do have some questions about your work and your perceptions of woodworking, and work as a Sawyer.

On your web page you describe not air drying wood before putting it in a kiln? As a traditional Artisan in wood and Timberwright I work almost exclusively in green wood (aka wet fresh wood...20% moisture and more sometimes.) Since Air Drying is the traditional method and yields the highest grade lumber humans have ever produced historically, and the only way to replicate traditional piece of furniture and architecture (they didn't have nor use kilns 250 years ago)...How did you come to the conclusion that Air Drying..."causes too much degrade, especially in oak family." This isn't meant to be overtly challenging...I am just curious of your own personal view and how you got there. I will validate that I have been working in the wood Arts (traditionally) on and off for over 40 years and understand wood from strictly a traditional construct. Riven green oak and large slab work is one of my specialties...all worked green. I am looking for sources in the Twin City area for large quality slabs for commissioned pieces.

Regards,

j

Hi, good vid. Had a? what size of a motor are you using? And what RPM and to stop the blade do you stop the motor or disengage a PTO clutch?
