Man this image really brings me back to when I was homeless around this time 2 years ago. I remember I would stay in empty apartments and I didn't have a lighter so I would use the stoves to light my smokes, go sit outside in the middle of the night and just listen to music. This one place in particular had a patio overlooking a golf course with a nice little pond to the side. And I gotta tell you man even tho I was depressed as fuck. That night. That night was the most at peace I have ever been in my life I almost wish I could go back. Just appreciating my one and only cigarette, thankful for the roof over my head even tho it was only mine for the night, and the silence of everything around me. With just the little ducks and birds quacking and chirping as they woke up with the sun. I had nothing and was thankful for more things than I am now. I had far more serious problems back then and yet that night I had zero worries. zero burdens. I find myself complaining alot more now than I did back then.

Thank you every single one of you for leaving love in the comments, I honestly had no idea I'd find so many people who related. It was nice being able to come back every now and then to read your stories and supporting words whenever I got a little down haha. Im now getting my GED (1 or 2 months max away from graduating) so I can hopefully go to the military and build a career path. I have held down a studio apartment for the past year with zero help and I'm super proud of myself for that. Life still gets a little rough. People have came and went, all I do is work and sleep, and I'm still very money tight but I try to stay positive as it's not the worst thing in the world :). To everyone who is dealing with the same situation I did, you got it. Truly. If I have learned anything since then is that everything is temporary and there's a whole lot more waiting for you. You're not too late and don't doubt you can make it. I'm rooting for you.
