This was fantastic! The comment about the right palm pointing down is critical. I recently have been filming my swing at 120 fps, and saw that I had an early release. From your video, I was able to see that it was because my right hand wrist was bending in the complete opposite way. I am looking forward to trying the drills, thanks for a great video!

Another great video....I would like to thank you for helping me drop my index from 14 to 8.7. I started watching your videos last weather and by late spring, I had broken 80 for the first time in my life. I’m 57. I broke 80 three more times last summer and took second in my golf league. This is proof that your free videos do help. I was about to take full advantage of your training site when I had a not so good doc appointment. I’ve had to put my progress on hold. Once I kick this, I will be back in full bull. Keep doing what you do.

Thank you for posting another great lesson. It would be fantastic if I hit farther with consistency, but I would pick the consistency first as a weekend golfer. I will focus on compressing and de-lofting at my practice to have better accuracy first. 😀

Another great video. CLAY can you put a video togetheir with each club to show swing speed ..
height..with each club so we can relate to the video each time..thanks

Great video as usual Clay. Just two things, with the right wrist cocked and held do you keep this at impact so the speed is coming from the shoulder turn and not the release or do you feel like you release the club from this position. and secondly should this be a iron type swing thought or should this be for your woods/hybrids too? Thanks

the secret to preventing an early release of the clubhead, but still getting a high ball flight, is to apply force to both the left and the right side of the shaft with the left hand. there probably will still be some de-loft. but, the longer the club, the less de-loft there will be.

I see you're using a 4-iron for this demo. Does the same concept apply as you get progressively higher in clubs? I would assume forward lean is forward lean regardless of whether you're hitting your 4i or your 8i for instance. The same concept applies, right? Granted, with the shorter length club you'll need to adjust for that versus swinging your 4-iron, but I have to believe I still need to create forward lean to get the result I want. I've always been a "picker", and as a result, distance suffers, but early returns on trying more forward lean have been great for me, and I'd like to think I can use the concept across all irons in my bag. Thanks!!

How do you maintain forward shaft lean at impact while still getting a straight line release? In my head I just can't seem put the two together.

Thanks for the golf tips. With the beard you look so much like Navy Seal, Michael Murphy. Lone Survivor story.

My early release problem only shows up when I hit driver. It's not so much about trying to square the club face, but it feels like it's taking forever for the club head to get to the ball, and my right hand takes over.

My swing looks way worse than your bad example. I have worked on it for a little while tho but haven’t seen much results. Do you have some drills to help work this away?

9:24. I would take this guy's before distance of 5 iron: 180 and 8 iron: 140.

My 5 iron is 170 and 8 iron: 130.

236 with any iron is exceptional. Clay is not a beginner.

Ha ha, his not very good swing speed is still 89 mph. I have to swing like a maniac to get to that. That said, great video, I have spent the last year working my path but have struggled to get the clubface on the right angle to match the path.

When I get good compression my launch angle goes from 28 to 21 with my 7 iron however I hit a pull hook. When I try to get the ball to start out to the right my clubface stays open and my launch angle jumps to 25 and it slices. The only way I could hit it fairly straight is to flip at it, but that is inconsistent and I hit the ground behind the ball at times.

Going to work on this to see if it helps.

Frustrating for me right now. I’m so close to getting that forward shaft lean. 7-iron goes 140, then next shot 7-iron goes 170! Need drills for consistency.

I always wondered: why complicate things with that « twisting the handle » if a stringer grip would achieve pretty much the same thing at impact? I tried the handle twisting method and find it less consistent than just having a stronger grip to begin with. Any opinions on this matter?

Free video gives no information, just sets up the paid videos.
Fair enough, that's how you make money. But unclear that the free video has no lesson.
