120 χρόνια από τον θάνατο του Oscar Wilde, η ηθοποιός Βασιλική Κυπραίου και ο μουσικός Βαγγέλης Γέττος ψηλαφούν με γυμνά χέρια το «De profundis» («Εκ βαθέων»), την πυρακτωμένη επιστολή - διαθήκη του μεγάλου Ιρλανδού συγγραφέα, μέσα από μία πειραματική ταινία μεσαίου μήκους που θα προβληθεί για πρώτη φορά διαδικτυακά στις 9/4/2021.

Η εμβληματική επιστολή που ο Oscar Wilde έγραψε μέσα στις αγγλικές φυλακές του Reading
και αργότερα θα γινόταν γνωστή με τον τίτλο «De profundis», αποτελεί ένα ολιστικό μανιφέστο για την ζωή, την τέχνη και την ανθρώπινη υπόσταση. Τα ζητήματα με τα οποία καταπιάνεται σε αυτό το κλασικό κείμενο παραμένουν περισσότερο ανοιχτά από ποτέ. Ο Wilde καταφέρνει να χωρέσει θέματα όπως η καλλιτεχνική αξιοπρέπεια, η αισθητική, ο ρόλος της τέχνης αλλά και ο εξοστρακισμός της ανθρωπιάς, το συντριπτικό αίσθημα της αδικίας και της αλλοτρίωσης στη βιομηχανική κοινωνία σε λίγες σελίδες με τρόπο απαράμιλλα περιεκτικό.

Στην ταινία «De profundis», ο λόγος και η μουσική συντονίζονται με τον ρυθμό της μεταιχμιακής γραφής του μεγάλου συγγραφέα καθώς και σκηνές από το στούντιο των ηχογραφήσεων και της κυπριακής υπαίθρου.

120 years after Oscar Wilde’s death, actress Vasiliki Kypraiou and musician Vaggelis Gettos touch with bare hands «De profundis», the burning letter-testament of the great Irish writer, through an experimental medium-length film which will be screened online for the first time on 9/4/2021.

The emblematic letter which Oscar Wilde wrote in Reading Gaol prison – a letter which would later be given the title «De profundis»- constitutes a holistic manifesto on life, art and human existence. The issues which he addresses within this classic text remain open, more so than ever. Wilde concentrates topics like artistic dignity, aesthetics, the role of art and the exile of humanity, the devastating feeling of unfairness and the alienation of the industrial society in a few pages in a surprisingly inclusive way.

In the film «De profundis», human voice and music are tuned to the rhythm of the threshold-like the writing style of the great writer and also scenes from the recording studio and the Cypriot countryside.
