The Prophet SAW warned us: 'Beware of envy, for it devours good deeds just as fire devours wood.'

In these verses, we see how envy led Yusuf’s (AS) brothers to commit a grave injustice against him... Their jealousy drove them to plot and harm their own brother.

The brothers mistakenly thought they could kill Yusuf and just repent later...

However, true repentance has four conditions: 1) genuine regret 2) to immediately stop the sinful act 3) a firm resolution never to repeat it and 4) to seek forgiveness from those wronged. The brothers' repentance clearly lacked sincerity at the time.
