This was true for almost all cubes (3x3, 4x4, 5x5) in the early 2000s. You really had to adapt your style and weigh the risk vs reward of going fast. And man "fast" back then is so slow now....

The only way to get an under 30 second solve with a 6x6 is to obviously just make it your 3x3 main solve it like a 3x3, gosh. Y’all haven’t thought of this?

On my side 4x4 was my favourite event for 10 years (2008-mid 2018) until the Aoshi GTS challenged that (although not 100% takeover, I'm split between 4 and 6 now). Probably my favourite puzzle ever made, but Ao fu/chuang GTS will come very close.
