As long as you respect the return policy and buy with the intention of keeping nothing wrong with returning worn clothes(if it is allowed). Companies know you’re more likely to buy the better the return policy is, so it’s worth it to them. I’ve bought makeup worn it, didn’t like color or how it felt and have returned to Sephora also returned pants that shrunk in wash.

The honest thing to do is try it on and if it don't fit return it.😊

I used to work retail and the returns line after every holiday was unbelievably long. The sad thing is people didn’t even attempt to hide the fact the clothing was worn. Little kids clothing with Easter chocolate dripping down the front, candy canes still stuck to a Christmas dress, grass stains on pants worn for family pictures.

There was an episode of Shameless in which the sister had a whole thing going where she had a whole wardrobe based on returning designer clothes by their deadline.

Only time I've done that is because it shrunk in the wash.

My husband and I found a bunch of unopened adult diapers in a house on his worksite that was being torn down. Well we loaded up the trunk of my car and headed to Walmart. With 2 full buggies of adult diapers headed toward customer service thinking Dave is gonna be proud this will be groceries for a month. They said we had to have a receipt.

I had a pair of black flats in 6th or 7th grade that had an elastic strap around the heel that pushed my toes into the front of the shoe so uncomfortably. But I didn’t notice that it did that until a couple hours into wearing them the next day at school. I determined I would return them and be careful with my steps the rest of the day… A classmate pushed me into MUD. I was so mad saying I was wanting to return the shoes, but the private school I attended at the time, many of my classmates were entitled and bratty. I cleaned the shoes the absolute best I could, and after being slightly interrogated by the cashier when trying to return them, they accepted the shoes back 😅😅😅

Former retail worker- if it's been worn, and not just tried on, we have to destroy the item because it isn't able to be resold. Why destroyed, you might wonder? Because if we just threw it away intact, someone could take it and have it for free, which could theoretically lead to workers returning things used for a refund, and then fishing the item out of the trash to keep. It's a loss prevention measure.

When your frugality crosses over ethical or legal boundaries you have gone too far.
