Life on the OPEN OCEAN! What's it really like? Sailing Vessel Delos Ep. 248

Ever wondered what a typical day on a two week open ocean passage is like? It varies depending on the boat, the crew and the ocean but there is definitely a couple common themes that weave their way into all of our long distance sails. Having the chance to disconnect from the world and reconnect with nature is a highlight, as well as spending our days exactly as we'd like whether it's snoozing , reading, or fishing. And of course, we all love those days when conditions pick up a bit and allow Delos to shine with some badass sailing 😁 We had fun filming this episode from the first person point of view & hope you guys enjoy the switch up! Much love, B&B

This is our story, a story of four souls sailing around the world. It is a story about sailing and travel and adventure. But it's also a story about meeting amazing people and making life long friends. It's a story of people living their lives in an alternate way, in close connection with the beautiful people and amazing planet that we call home. Our experience has affected us so profoundly we want to share it, hoping that others may find inspiration to follow their dreams and do what they love.

As I catch up on the Atlantic crossing, I am SO impressed by Brady's ability to troubleshoot and fix things!! Brian is normally on camera fixing everything so it's way cool to see Brady rockin' it on his own!! So proud!! And Blue has become an amazing sailor too!! Her skills at switching from motoring to sailing on her own is very impressive!!

I love that your cameras and lenses are finally getting to capture the night sky out on passage! I think, being a natural night owl and enjoying that sense of quiet and peaceful solitude myself I would love doing the night watches…just staring at the moon, the stars and the Milky Way all night long!

Loved the way Blue went from engines to sailing. No fuss or panic and then hey who needs the auto pilot or to even hang onto the wheel. Very impressive. And then we got to sit through Brady teaching Ruben the feel of the boat while blowing Force seven. I haven't seen that much detail shown on any other video. Yup. I'll be back next week.

Did I mention I like to binge watch? Time to catch up on the Delos crew all the way back to Nov 2019. I'm a few videos in and I have to say the editing has been absolutely fantastic. Brady and Blue doing an awesome job in my opinion. The videos have a very nice vibe, meshing the music to the mood. I suspect that is the Blue touch coming through. Delos videos have always been good, I just can't remember if they were THIS good. Pats on the back all around.

SV Delos is just simply put awe inspiring.
It does not matter who you have on board the Delos bug bites them and they become as one with the world and at one with one and other.
much love and fair winds you guys.

Nice little segment on going from motor to sail. I really appreciated the headcam view of setting the sails, checking wind direction and speed, shutting the engine off, and trimming. Thanks Blue!

One of my favorite episodes (and I've watched them all). I prefer at sea videos. This one was even better because you spoke about how you feel on a passage. Thank you.

And Brady... seamanship through and through. I saw Captain Brady in this episode. Confident, knowing, troubleshooting, teaching. Yes. It's what we do. Troubleshooting is essential for any sailor. Sean so capable - props dude. No doubt crew breathes easier with such an experienced and skilled hand. So much in this episode for sailors to love. sv Delos excellence I'll say it again. Night watches, nature, stars and fortunately in my experience phosphorescence, yes. So good. So So good. Good on ya' for all the souls on Delos bringing us this insight.

Fantastic job on the videography, editing, and story telling Alex & Brady! That 24 hour glimpse of life on the open ocean is one of if not the best video I have seen on SV Delos. Well done and keep up the great work! This is an epic season!

I wondered if Brady was having the thoughts this stint as Captain is bringing about his own boat. I think it is only a natural progression in life that is calling you. You certainly have the skills, and Blue is showing she has the chops as a First Mate. I am sort of a gearhead, and her comments while on the helm about feeling the boat were very real. The best experience you can have with a machine like Delos is when you know it well enough to know when it is right, and working with you.

The quiet nite passage stuff is wonderful. If you have a chance to do one of those limited talking, lots of Delos sounds under sail and the sea under you, the night sky... it would be a great gift.
I feel a lot of a similar magic in the high mountain and deserts of Nevada. I find it interesting how desert people and ocean people find the same solace in such different yet eerily similar places...

Another excellent episode. I imagine Brian and Kazza smiled when they saw how well you guys are keeping the faith, and keeping the flame burning bright. Sweet.

Blue you are ready to solo sail around the world. It's amazing how far you have come since you joined the crew. Your commentary is always entertaining and well worth the time. Thank you for sharing your experiences. Keep smiling and sail on.

This is a great episode for sailors to watch. Crew on watch in control and clear commands when needed. Backed up by great footage and interesting and insightful commentary from Blue. I love how Brady has grown in maturity and confidence now he is skipper. He has all the skills needed. Altogether a beautiful exposition of life at sea on Delos beyond the informative narrative.

I'm so impressed about how smooth Delos behaves in those big waves (and from other passages as entering Madagascar years ago). No wonder that Amels like Delos are so expensive when you continue to show their prowess as a blue water vessel. Great video guys and fair winds!

Mr Brady is making a fine Captain Brady!
Not easy, not hard, but just right! He has confidence and humor. Great combo! I always loved working for people that had their stuff together.

Great editing. Thank you for sharing beautiful sights. It's nice to see the ocean at night without night vision mode. Love your show. Peace Delos crew. Be easy.

Blue has such a beautiful insightful way of describing what she sees and feels. It really makes you feel and understand what it's like to be there. Many blessings to you and the crew ❤️
