Beautiful.  I know it's been said before but they really don't write, of sing, songs like this any more.   Rest in peace you bygone the old song writers.

My grandparents lived in the New River Valley of Virginia in 1922. . My grandmother became very ill and had to be taken to a hospital in Charlottesville Virginia where she had much needed surgery. After which she which hemorrhaged and died. She was only 33 years old. She left behind 5 children, the youngest only 7 months old. This was my grandfathers favorite song for the rest of his life. I think he related to it since he had lost his beloved wife. But he raised their children by himself and never remarried. He died in 1937. I know they are together now for eternity..

When my Dad died I sang and played this song as we grieved. Now when I hear it, even though it has been many years and I am 80 it hurts and my eyes tear up when I hear this song . You cannot beat good old American folk songs. We leave the valley of tears, cross the great divide, and some fine day with the love of Jesus the Lord in our hearts all our tears will be wiped away.

I heard this lovely song in my early teens. I am now 76 and the song( sung by many different artists) to me is a wonderful treat.

Memories...a little over 75 years ago, as a small boy, living in Oklahoma, less than dozen miles from the Red River, I would hear this song over the radio, and believe it was about where I lived. My mother played that tubed radio each afternoon. I remember Red Foley singing There Will Be Peace In The Valley, among others. My favorite was Patti Page singing Mocking Bird Hill. Eddie Arnold sang another favorite, Good Night Irene. The Carter Family sang On Top Of Old Smokey and Gene Autry's Back In The Saddle Again all invoke a sadness in me of what's gone.

My mom and dad were happily married for many years and my dad would often sing this to her or play it on the harmonica. Always brings back great memories

Our music teacher, Miss Ballis, taught us all the old standards back in the 70s. So grateful, now I sing them to my grandkids. 🥰

Remember this from the 1950s.Apparently my parents would play this song for me to send me to sleep when I was a baby and I'd listen to it waving my hands in time to the music. The record that they had is long gone so I'm delighted to find this song again.

I'm living in U S now but I miss Hong Kong so, so much. I remember growing up there, the good old days and great memories. I can't even go and visit Hong Kong now because of the pandemic and I'm getting old. Thank you for this good video and others that I often enjoy to watch.
