The Yak52 is essentially useless in DCS for what DCS is meant to be…..but I absolutely love it, the most fun to just fly around - probably because it’s closest to what we non-fighter pilots would ever actually fly.

And the hornet is the best choose if you can only buy a small number (budget) because you’ll tick the most boxes out of a single plane, , air, ground, complexity, carrier, etc!

Might add that some of the best prices you can get are when you install DCS for the first time...even better than the normal sales that come up several times during the year. I purchased (during install): F-16C, F/A-18C, A-10C II Tank Killer, P-47D Thunderbolt, Flaming Cliffs 3, Supercarrier, & Syria Map for a total of $225 normally $450. So don't ignore that pop-up window when installing DCS!

The JF is great for being the only modern high fidelity jet that isn't a blue force plane

All of the single player campaigns (except for the red flag exercises) for the A10C are amazing.

Hey Cap! Would it be possible to do updated/refreshed Viggen tutorials? The old ones are, well, old and not the most clear. Blood might be good help if he’s available, like you had Cortana on for the A4-E. Thanks for all the hard work you and the rest of GR put into this stuff!

#1. Gazelle helicopter (SA 342) - flight model is now improved and is as in reality. It flies very well. It's a light helicopter. It has a high survivability versus heavy helicopters which are easy targets.

#2. Mirage 2000C - was my first full fidelity module and I think it is the best model to start with, next to the JF-17.
If you look closely at the improvements to the M2000C that have now been introduced, you will find that only now the entire HOTAS on this plane makes sense. There is no other plane that is so enjoyable to fly.

#3. The F-16 - has the worst logic in the cockpit in IMHO. After switching from the f-18 it is total chaos and this plane can fly only without bombs or additional fuel tanks. Total brick in the air. It shows its possibilities only lightly equipped.

i got into DCS about 6 months ago, but sadly had barely any chance to play, picked up the A-10C, the F/A-18 and one of the A-10 campaigns. i need to get on the GR tutorials to properly learn how to use them! just flying them successfully and dropping an unguided bomb '*waves hand*' "somewhere" is about my level right now

Gazelle is the Spitfire of the Chopper world. Huge fun, and for short range A2A the Mistral is the best A2A IR missile in DCS. Regularly has the highest number of kills in the Stats for the Valdavia & Vinmar Sunday Funday Public campaigns.

So as my first module I actually bought myself the Mig-21bis, a few months ago. You were pretty clear about not first timing this perticular module. I can use the weapons effectivley, know the G-limits and can fly okay I guess, I wouln't say I'm too confident in online play. The biggest thing I'm stuck on is the radio and the old rwr system. Do you think I should stick with it as I'm alredy so far into it or start again in a much more easy jet ?

I started full fidelity with the Mirage, big mistake! I literally gave up on it too.

What I do recommend however from a new player perspective is the JF-17, it is so easy and beginner friendly, you can access everything by clicking on the screens like a smart phone. It is then much easier to learn everything else you have to know like BVR engagements, differences between laser, CCIP or CCRP bombing ect.. It has some really nice weaponry too!! (Being able to control your big missiles with the camera from 60 nm away is a blast!). Just keep in mind that the limited carry capacity on this one will maybe make you wanting more after a while. (5 months for me, and I still use it).

F-16 is the best, the easiest jet to get you in modern air combat. Engine starts with a flick of two switches.

Power on the avionics, wait a minute for the alignment and you're all set.
I look at the FA-18 cockpit and everything looks littered around the cockpit with less sense like it was added whereever they found space, as time went on.

I went back to the A10C, ugh... Forgot everything how to start it up.
F-16 gets you flying fast, so you can quickly start learning ACM and SEAD tactics, that's where the Viper fun really begins.
