There was a pandemonium on Tuesday when the House of Representatives Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development and Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, the Minister of Women Affairs, engaged in a heated confrontation. The committee had invited the minister to answer to allegations of corruption, especially the alleged diversion of N1.5 billion meant for contractor payments. A lot of comment here reflects the disgrace attitude being displayed here. I am at loss why anyone willl blame the chairperson in this altercation. The first lady speakng was addressing Mr DFA, while the minister barbarically jumped in and inappropriately stated she takes exception. The chairperson albeit rattled, is within her rights to caution the barking minister and inform she will have her turn to speak. Just picture in a court of law, a judge addresing a defendant and a co defendant interrupts the process in this manner. That person wil be warned and failure to comply will surely resullt to contempt off the court, which coulld land one in the court cell.

We are our worst enemy in this country.

The house committee members are accusing the minister of shouting, they are also shouting on top of their voices at the same time.
Why can't they talk gently and allow the microphone and loudspeakers propagate their voices?
Again, when you make allegations you should allow the accused to respond instead of continue talking and accusing, because I sense a situation whereby when the committee members finish talking and accusing the minister, they will conclude the investigation and not allow the minister to respond. And probably that might be the reason she wanted to respond to each accusation as they were been alleged to avoid entering the trap of been accused and not allowed to respond.
These people can do anything to their opponents and perceived enemies.

But you people didn't allow the minister to speak and defend herself. Its missuse of power in my own opinion and you wonder why she is shouting? You cannot be making accusations and not allow her to defend herself, that's unfair

I don't understand why payment to contractors is attracting so much energy from lawmakers like this. I can assure you that even the national assembly is owing contractors or staff one way or the other. Allow the ministry sought this out when funds are provided.
