Thanks Misty! Another great, concise review! Love your descriptions about the food. I have to agree with you about plate lunches but you make them interesting 😊 I recently moved back from NYC with my husband and daughter and have been following your leads on where to check out. Our favorite of your recommendations is still Jim Bo. Not sure if they found a new location yet. Our go to plate lunch place is Triple A (?) outside of Don Quijote. Love their mochiko chicken and pork adobo. I keep meaning to try something else but then I would not be able to eat my mochiko chicken! The Thai and Chinese take out places are pretty good too although the Thai place can be pretty varied. Thanks again for your great videos . . . And for always mentioning the parking situation!

In my opinion. Kalihi has great local eateries! Period. Some are nostalgic because I would eat their as a kid and some are still around. I also appreciate the new mom and pop eateries. Your channel introduces some places I never knew about. ❤😊

Ah...nice! I just noticed driving by the the change in businesses there and was wondering how it was. The crinkle fries alone I think will get me to stop by and try! Thanks for the review!

The mini Garlic Ahi looked good! I would go with that. Fries reminded me of Diner's Drive Inn when they were in Moilili. And that plate lunch could feed 2 people. I'll check 'um out when I get a chance, since it has Misty's A-OK. Aloha

I like plate lunches because they're a good deal. Thanks for this review. Just had their bento and their BBQ Mix. Their fried fish tasted surprisingly fresh - love it! Their rice was perfectly cooked and overall, their seasoning was very well done (not overly salty). This may be my new "go to" for plate lunches - looking forward to trying their other plates.

Good video. The dishes looks good. I'll have to add this new list of places that all the local foodies in Honolulu rave about on Yelp. I'm always at a loss of thinking of what to eat and where when I come into town. I'll still trying to get to that Waipahu Italian restaurant that was covered. The video was good. Mahalo.

The quantity and your description make this sound very inviting to me. Thanks for showing us this new place!

I'm not one for overly sweet or shoyu heavy burnt Teri marinated meats. Also, overly fried almost burnt katsu things either. L&L nearest to me is consistantly like that, kogi. Their Teri Beef is full of those stringy fatty parts too, just like you described you got a some places. But we get few places that sell plate lunches. Even fewer that have good food. I miss the food, variety and prices one can get in Hawaii.

Aloha Misty: I hope you are having a great Sunday afternoon with the ohana! Your review got me missing the times I had similar fries, and food, at the “old-time” place on King Street which served similar food — it was across from Peterson Lane; however, it is long-gone, except for my memories. 😀. I am glad to see the neighborhood has not changed too much on School Street/Houghtailing Street. The food at the new establishment looks “awesome” and must have been delicious. The amount of food presented was great, which must have been enough for two more servings later. I really enjoyed this vlog for the memories of old-times. How Aiden enjoyed the offerings of this new establishment. I am looking forward to the next vlog and review. Best wishes to you, and the ohana, follow ! Much love🧧And 🤙.

At 7:00, you must have read my mind. As I watched this video, I was impressed with the size of the mini as well, BUT...I also thought, "Oh, ANOTHER local style drive in! Same ole, same ole food!" As much as I love spam, teri chicken, and breaded fish, I'm looking for something else. Not exactly sure what, but something different! Can't quite put my finger on it, but I guess what might come close is Japan. While they do have a lot of ramen, sushi, and donburi places, they also have unique little shops that sell interesting dishes and desserts as well as western places that serve pizza or hamburgers with a Japanese twist. Hawker places in Singapore also offer great variety. Since we eat out a lot, it is a challenge to try to have different things every day.

Passed by last weekend after shopping at Kam Shopping Center and noticed "I Love Cafe" and wanted to know what kind food they offer. Only saw sign on windows of some of what they serve but now I know and must stop and try it. Good to know small takeout fast food places opening in small area like school street. Always, Buy Local, Support Local.
Update: 5/6/2025. Since seeing this video on I Love Cafe, my wife and I ate here 2-3 time already. Customer service is terrific and the Food is really good. Don't matter what you order, plate lunch or sandwiches. Food is consistent and taste Good. Last weekend we were going to eat Lunch after putting flowers at Nuuanu Cemetery but did not have any parking, so we ate at a restaurant at Kam Shipping Center. But I highly recommend trying this place and I don't live in Kalihi. I live in lower Makiki.
