You know if you really look at it, you can see that the Dazzlings are sort of an example of a manipulative relationship.

As seen in Battle of the Bands, they throw a bunch of compliments at everyone to begin to convince them that they're right. Then they manipulate them to get the feeling of power that they need.

In a manipulative relationship, the manipulator gives their partner this sense of security and the feeling that the manipulator has their best interests at heart. They then proceed to make their partner feel like they're on a pedestal, so that they're more "convinced." Then they convince them to do things that they want, promising that they love them. That's how they get that rush of power that they need to feel good.

Under Our Spell is the song that shows the period where the manipulator's partner is basically oblivious to the fact they're being controlled, and are convinced that they are getting what's best for them. In that song, the Dazzlings literally confess their plans out loud, but the rest of the students are so convinced that this is right, that they completely disregard it. This allows the Dazzlings to get more power, and with the willingness from th estudents.

Welcome to the Show is when the manipulator's partner begins to realize from the help of friends or family, that have been worried for them because they can see what's happening. The partner is still convinced that the manipulator loves them, and the manipulator begs for them to come back, guilt tripping and manipulating their emotions to feel bad about them leaving. After a lot of tug of war, the partner eventually leaves the manipulative relationship, which in this case, is breaking the spell.
