Robert Frost's 'Out, Out'

"Out, Out" is a 1916 poem by the great American poet Robert Frost. The title is an allusion to Shakespeare's Macbeth; both the lines "out, out brief candle" (referring to the fragile and transitory nature of life), and "out, out damned spot" (in reference to blood on Lady Macbeth's hands). The poem uses alliteration and onomatopoeia to create what Frost called "the sound of sense." The images are stock, intended to only to be a visual accompaniment to the poetry.

Holy crap I have ADHD and read poems way too fast, having someone else read it out loud with the proper speed and connotations caused me to fully understand the poem, now, even though I re-read it like 18 times today and wasn't able to understand it.
