What weighs the same as 10 elephants and was recently installed at the Urban Utilities Bundamba Sewage Treatment Plant? A new 50-tonne switchboard building!

It arrived at 4am under the cover of darkness with a police escort to boot and was lowered into place by a 350-tonne mega crane.

Why such a heavy building? Because it holds all of the switchboards that supply electricity to our 20-hectare Bundamba plant.

Around 16 million litres of wastewater arrives each day to be screened, treated and disposed of safely and sustainably. So, the plant – and its switchboards – have a big and important job to do to keep your toilets flushing!
