MLP really had a habit of getting super mature super quick. Season 5 had more than one scene about slavery and a whole apocalypse two parter and Season 8's main conflict was racism lol.

MLP wrote the book on reforming villains. Glimmy got her butt kicked, and flipped on a dime to good upon getting offered some friendship. Never went back to bad. Trixie got her butt kicked, got humbled, but remains prideful, she's not too interested in getting too close to the goody-goodies who bested her. But she's not evil. Chrysalis got her butt kicked, and flat out rejected the outstretched hand of friendship, choosing instead to stay the bad guy. Princess Luna got her butt kicked before the show started, takes the hand of friendship in the first episode, and spends the entire series working on herself and trying to be a better person.

That’s the thing honestly, MLP didn’t fuck around and actually had meaning in the show (unlike new gen and most shows these days.) This honestly taught kids what a cult is, and showed them signs of it- and how they’re bad.

For some reason, that episode always terrified me.
Getting something that made you, yourself removed to become "equal" sounds so scary...
It kinda reflects people that hate certain communitys/fandoms (Examples: Vulture culture, Furry fandom/community, art community, Cryptidcore community, cosplay community, etc), because they would try so hard to discourage people that love the things THEY love to do, and make them "normal".
