Sebakwe Shows He's Also a Father Figure for the Young Elephants

Sebakwe must have been feeling a little left out after we asked the question, Is Fishan the father of the herd? Because here he is recently, with the young females all around him, stepping in to offer his company and protection while the elephants are out in the bush. Khanyisa and Timisa move about at his feet while the dominant bull towers over them, and Timisa gets extra affectionate with him, rubbing against his legs and reaching out for his trunk. It's precious to see these gentle moments with such a stately giant. Limpopo, Klaserie and Kumbura all move in too, and spend some time with Sebakwe at a very enticing tree. Klaserie and Sebakwe have a special bond and one might easily call Sebakwe a father figure, in human terms, to Klaserie. For all we know, he could be the father, as we aren't sure who Setombe mated with before having her daughter. Setombe and Sebakwe are very close and they sleep side by side overnight, with Klaserie, in their shared section of the homestead. Setombe seems to get a lot of comfort and security from Sebakwe, and no doubt Klaserie and the other young cows feel this too. Sebakwe can certainly be a nuisance, when he's chasing Timisa, pushing Fishan's buttons, biting Jabulani's tail, or sparring vigorously with the young bulls, but he has some of the qualities one might look for in a father. He is strong, a guardian, assertive. He likes his alone time, but he's also happy to bond with his family.

Sebakwe is magnificent and those tusks are so amazing. Seeing Timisa cuddle up to him and he is just extremely calm about it all definitely makes me think he is the father of the herd.

Sebakwe is absolutely stunningly beautiful, protector of the lil ones, they all have their role and instinctively react when needed, i adore all of the Bulls but Fish is my absolute one i love him its because of what he endured and how he became a warrior he is, much love to each and everyone of Herd 💙💙💙
