I think removing the battery top keeps the manufacturers from cheaping out on the assembly. I have seen other Youtubers criticize construction quality and the manufacturers made improvements on future releases, so yes, disassembly helps the consumer and should be included in your assessments. Thanks Tom for doing these tests, you and Jasonoid are really good at this.

I love that you give these batteries away to someone who will use them and appreciate them. I don’t need to see you cut them open there’s already so much waste in this world.

Cutting them open has really shown the types of build quality we are working with. Some of these "budget" batteries have had *very* poor build quality with sub-standard cells and we would have no idea without a break-down. A couple of reviewers cutting open their batteries could save 100's or even 1000's of us from buying some garbage. Donate the the cut-up battery and let someone have fun with it and put it back together.

I have the older "big" version of this battery and my buddy just got this new Mini. We both built DIY power stations with them and saved like $700 compared to an all in one unit. Longer warranties and the ability to replace or upgrade modular parts is great.

I voted in the last poll to not chop the batteries up but in this case I support the decision to do a tear down because these LiTime minis are not the standard prismatic cells but pouch cells and I wanted to see the interior arrangement of pouches, BMS board etc. PS I have already purchased a mini and expect its arrival in 5 days. You have the heart of a nomad. The community has a solid reputation of helping others in need. It reflects your heart and desire to help people with limited needs. When you are on BLM camping and obtain a way to harness energy from the sun, it is a life changer and makes life more manageable. You could make a follow up video with the people you have given them and see how the battery is holding up. It's too bad they cannot send you two for your research; one to open and the other to pay it forward.

Love the “Jaguar ” fuse box reference. As a diy guy, I’m a shade tree mechanic as well. Without a doubt the British Leyland electoral systems are a nightmare for me in the old days . Don’t chop them up. Most don’t even know what they’re looking at. I purposely didn’t buy my lipo4’s with the heating element. Wasn’t worth the extra cost as I do not charge at night and not that many days is it below freezing in my local. I just flip a switch to start or stop the charging.

The teardown does make or break my purchasing decision. I don't buy unless I know whats under them. I bought these minis because I saw the build quality of the pouch cells and that put me at ease.

I think most people could still make use of these batteries if you used a chisel to pop the top off. I know some aren't so easy and require power tools for choppin
