Gaza ceasefire talks resume for second day in Qatar | BBC News

Negotiators seeking a Gaza ceasefire and hostage release deal will meet for a second day in Qatar.

Hamas representatives will not be in attendance and said the group would “not engage in negotiations for the sake of negotiations in order to provide cover for Israel to continue its war”.

The talks are still expected to take place even without Hamas, as US, Egyptian and Qatari mediators say they could use them to put together a plan that resolves the remaining issues.

They suffered several setbacks last month and have been suspended since Hamas's political leader and chief negotiator, Ismail Haniyeh, was assassinated in Tehran.

The US hopes that finalising a deal could deter Iran from retaliating for the assassination against Israel - which has neither confirmed nor denied involvement - and avert a regional conflict.

How do you have constructive discussions without the interested party, it does not make sense at all just cheap rhetoric

We are obliged to watch this pantomime again. These are not meaningful talks. We have seen exactly how Israel reacts to negotiations that do not serve their purposes. They will assasinate someone or perform yet another massacre or outrage to de-rail the talks.
If, by some feat of diplomacy, the talks do reach a conclusion the Israelis will find 1000 excuses not to impliment any agreement or they will simply change the facts on the ground to make an agreement unworkable.
It is absurd to believe that the principle supplier of the very weapons used to slaughter Palestinians in this conflict is in any way interested in a peaceful or just solution.
All they want is a figleaf to give themselves diplomatic cover while they permit, encourage, arm and carry out the destruction of all infrastructure within Gaza and the ethnic cleansing of the population.

Because of their beliefs, Muslims have Murderers Killers Of 14 Babies considered the Druze to be heretics and have persecuted them. This persecution has included massacres, the destruction of Druze holy places, and forced conversions to Islam. Druze have lived as outcasts under many Islamic empires, including the Fatimid Caliphate, the Mamluk Empire, and the Ottomans. 0:18

In 2023, an estimated 6.3 million children under five died, 2.9 million of them in the WHO African Region. This is equivalent to five children under 5 years of age dying every minute. Two thirds of these deaths can be attributed to preventable causes. A  0:16

It’s illegal to provide weapons to a country proven to be in violation of International Humanitarian Law, but that’s what the US does…..Blinken commemorates 75th anniversary of 1949 Geneva Conventions.

As much as i don't support Israel & Hamas, lets be real on who truly started this - During World War I, the British government issued the Balfour Declaration, expressing support for the establishment of a "national home for the Jewish people" in Palestine, which was then part of the Ottoman Empire. The Arabs opposed the increasing Jewish immigration since it was their land, The United Nations proposed a partition plan to divide Palestine into separate Jewish and Arab states, with Jerusalem under international administration. The Jewish community accepted the plan, while the Arab states and Palestinian leadership rejected it due to it being **their** land.

Don't put all the blame on Hamas, Hamas never started this war.. Israel did in which lead to The action being took on Oct 7th. G3nocide is disgusting, taking over someone's land by force especially the ones who let you in their land to protect you from "yk who" and then you turn around and try to wipe them out?
