This registered as Chinte in my mind, rather than Chinto (our Gankaku). None the less, I enjoyed watching this older Shorin Ryu version of Gankaku for Shotokan & Chinto for Shorin Ryu and perhaps other schools too. So thank you for that.
On the subject of Chinte - In our school the Kata Chinte has reverse hops at the end of the kata. This odd looking jumping backwards has been explained as * the ending of the kata was lost in time and the skips are simply to get back to the starting point. * defence against a rear hold; and the creative list goes on.
Do you know Chinte kata? If you do, any thought on those backward skips?
