Using a SNES Mouse on the NES

The NES never had an official mouse peripheral, but many modern homebrew games found ways to natively support the SNES mouse on the NES. Let's talk about these games, and how this is all possible.

This is great! I've seen Thwaite mentioned before, but I didn't know it's a Missile Command clone, and I wish I'd known Steel Moons supports the SNES Mouse, since I found it so hard to play. I may pick up the Hyperkin mouse, since modern optical mice are definitely an improvement over that rubber ball. Maybe you can do a video on using the Virtual Boy controller on the NES? I think there may only be two games that use it though: Spook O' Tron and Candelabra: Estocerro. I'd also love it if someone made a controller adapter for it, since VB controllers are increasingly rare and expensive and I don't want to mod mine.

Fun fact, you can actually do something similar to this with the Sega Saturn controllers on the Mega Drive/Genesis. Master System and lower is a bit iffy, but some of those will work too.
This has mostly boiled down to Saturn keyboard support, sadly. The Saturn had some good analog controllers, like the steering wheel and mission stick, even the standard analog pad was pretty neat. I’m planning to make good use of them.

I'm surprised no-one pointed out that you never explained how to connect a SNES mouse to the NES. Do SNES to NES controller adapters work?
