Zanshin - I know this is used also in Kendo martial arts, but in karate, it is used especially during the time you do "tento" on the opponent (you bring the fighter down and you finish with a punch on the grounded opponent) and you stop fighting but you are in a ready position at the opponent just in case the opposing fighter does a kip-up to fight at you again.

If you do not do the "zanshin" after you do the "kime" until the ref says the fight stops, you may not be awarded a point. You could also face a warning or even a penalty.

Should have included a 3 second clinch as well if the goal was to be at least a bit realistic fighting.

If only Damyanov knew about these new rules before attempting the 100 man kumite

I think the prohibition on holding and grabbing is to make Kyokushin karate not seem like "judo". Kakae is definitely allowed in Judo because you need to do that in order to do a "nage", or "throw."

Its closer to point fighting, it is a bit swaying away from knockdown approach..

This is not more realistic, this is closer to point fighting.

Looks like trying to get into the Olympics to me, adding in some point sparring. :( We saw what happened to a lot of TKD with that. OSU!

Anyone see the Sabaki Rules as done at the Joko Ninomiya's Sabaki Challenge whilst Ashihara Karate so until 1988 and perhaps one or two years thereafter? Sweeps and takedowns have been allowed in Ashihara rules for a very long time as are some of the new stuff in these rules.
But it is interesting as it brings us closer to each other.

People here after 2019 world open tournament knows consequences of this.
There won't be any tariel nikoleishvili like fighters any more after this....😢

In real life an attacker will do all these things and more to you. You should also be ready to respond appropriately. Anyway, my advise to all Karatekas is to practice for the competition. Afterwards please practice for survival/self defense in an ''Anything goes scenario''.

Are the punches to the collarbone allowed?

7:24 probably this is the worst part of the new rules, this is ruining the kyokushin spirit

Because they want to compete in the olypics with semi contact rules they do this. Stupid move. They should move closer to original kyokushin, with face punches and judo. See the popularity of mma.

No headpunch not interesting. Why dont they start to legalize it. If injuried is the case. Why dont just put on a headgear ???
