I love how you add the info to the side about the plants and fish you encounter

The fungus you found (hemlock varnish, reishi) are actually edible in that stage. The white outer edge is soft, and can easily be sautéed. I think it’s amazing actually. The rest of the fungus is highly medicinal and can be dried to make tea or made into tincture. Reishi is the elixir of life in Asian cultures! Great vids, I’m Maine born and one of my favorite places on earth.

Was raised in Maine and lived there til I turned 30. The parking lot you're in in the first minute or so is right behind the first place I ever worked. It's also where I learned how to drift in the snow in my first car when I was 15 hahah total trip having watched you for so long and seeing you walk around where I grew up. Hope Maine was welcoming and enjoyable!<3

Man this is such a great video. Serious commitment. I'm sick right now and on a really specific bland diet, and I'm trying to live vicariously through you with all these great foods that I wouldn't think of eating normally. Thank you Man!

Give Mav a break, he's out there actually Doing it (which so many of us can't) even if he's Googling what to do and it might be not always right.. he's Doing it and Trying!

Hey Mav, you can soak the freshwater mussels in clean spring water, and add a bit of corn meal to the water, it will help clean the mussels out as well as sweeten them up a bit! I thoroughly enjoy going out and harvesting freshwater mussels here in Florida, I love them! They make great stews, as well as AWESOME bait!

Mav, Next time consider boiling the fish heads, skin, and bones. Makes a very nutritious broth. We never throw away our walleye, perch, crappie, or bass after fileting them.(near Bemidji here) Once you strain the scales and add some salt and hot sauce it's amazing. Cheers! Always fun to watch your adventures!

Mav, make more like this!! Great format, really reminds me of the show “Alone” and cool to learn about what’s edible and what’s not.

HOW DID I MISS THIS EPISODE! My home state!

Grew up finding random wild blueberries, raspberries, catching trout. Crazy to see Mav in places I’ve been to.

I can't explain my excitement when I read Maine Edition!! Born and raised, recognized a couple of the places and even signs you drove by lol. Wish I could have come across you in your travels but hope you enjoyed your time spent in our beautiful State. If you ever need some advice on some cool native trout fisheries I would be willing to show you. You seem to respect the land the way we hope all travelers do and I cannot extend our appreciation enough for that.

I grew up in Durham, ME (where Stephen King spent his elementary school years at my school).

Maine is a special place, very unique. That deep blue water rushing on the rocks is so calming yet mysterious.

The cloudy rainy days really have an enigma to them. I think the ocean really dampens the air and gives it such a mystery - one could really feel lonely on a foggy/rainy evening up there.

Best place to call home
