Calling a slave lazy is the epitome of hypocrisy.

"Americans don't know history they know fairy tales", Dr. John Hope Franklin : this discussion is pointless.

This is horrific. The ignorance of the slave-owners is mind-boggling to me.

That does make one think though, that out of ALL the books in the whole entire world, the one book the slave masters allowed their slaves to read was the Bible and an edited version at that.

Are you trolling? I'm Aboriginal Australian. I support my BLK American brothers!!. European males enslaved, colonized and subjugated our people for over three generations! European men tried to breed the melanin out of our skin! I respect you SO MUCH for speaking out for the oppressed people globally, much love man!

To be fair they were given the opportunity to be free if they fought in the Revolutionary War in 1776 and against the Confederate in 1812. But most overwhelmingly declined. They even rejected the indentured right of working for 7 years and buying land before 1690 when those rights became illegal practices. So they aren't entirely wrong even though it sounds derogatory. Its important to understand that especially during the the Revolutionary war, it was the peak of American patriotism and the forefathers knew that when they signed the declaration of independence they were signing their deaths away. So they were willing along with the commonfolk to put their lives on the line for their freedoms from the British crown. You can imagine how anyone who didn't share that same intensity in devotion to freedom would be looked down on which is why much of the writings are what they are. However, even the father of race theory Johan Friedrich Blumenbach who was a German physician in his writings discovered the same attributes. So it likely is the case that they wrote that based on his writings.

What does this have to do with now? Have we proved him wrong in 2024?

Depends on how the Bible is interpreted! The Bible can be interpreted to tolerate tyranny. Or interpreted to resist tyranny!

The issue persists today to some extent.

I'm into genetic genealogy. I'm trying to rediscover my ancestry through DNA testing and genealogical records. Often the records don't exist, but a genetic match can lead to success, but it takes work. I see a good share of lack of effort, and lack of cooperation.

I don't attribute it to race, but education. A good education is more than just learning and studying, it also leads to self motivation and initiative.

Parents educate, teachers teach. I think that parents who neglect to educate their children will also fail to motivate them.

Skilled slaves were paid depending on location and time frame.

Not all blacks came from Africa. Many are native Americans. Cherokee, and many other tribes. The amount of slaves does not add up when compared to the amount of time slavery was a thing in USA. It adds up to 10s of thousands per day. That is impossible

The reason is because in tropical climates (where most melanated people are from around the globe) there is always an abundant supply of fruit. There are no winters, and thus, no real "seed and harvest" time. There were cattle herdsmen, but they tended to be nomadic. Look at the sub-Saharan African and Melanesian diets. Since there's always fruit and it doesn't get cold, there was no need to scramble to store food. Therefore, the "saving" mentality was not something that was cultural. Only in temperate regions (Northern Europe and Northeast Asia) did the cultures persist in trying to grow and store as much food as possible to prevent famine in winter.

You have interesting work here. Even if I disagree on some insights, the information here can be useful for me to source at some point. I'm referencing your whole catalog.
