If Atlanta wants affordable housing, lower the property taxes. At least property taxes on retirees livind on a fixed income, and/or based on income.

This is a city sponsored meeting of real estate agencies, businesses, and local leaders to address affordable housing. What could it possibly accomplish?

The city would rather keep all the employment tax and property tax revenue that comes from selling expensive houses to richer people. That's why, despite the rhetoric and the administration, all policies for many many decades have led to more expensive housing. Real estate agencies would rather sell a house for more money than less money. Pretty much nobody signs. Businesses... unless it's payday loans, check cashing, or a liquor store, they'd rather the customers be richer rather than poorer.

The only party that possibly has any interest in seeing affordable housing might be local leaders.
