Sensory Enrichment Story: Mickey eats solids for the first time in 14 years
Показать описание
This boy is 14 years old. He started doing Mendability, an implementation of Sensory Enrichment Therapy 2 months ago.
A year before this video was taken, a therapist tried to put a jelly bean into his mouth. He vomited. He was never able to eat any solids. Then, by surprise, Mickey took a hard cookie.
One of the benefits of Sensory Enrichment therapy is that an improvement in the processing of sensory inputs. For Mickey, textures are no longer a problem when eating. But this is not all: background noise can be filtered out, clothes can be worn without discomfort, crowded places can be attended normally, engine noises are no longer a problem, etc. Mickey is now more comfortable in all settings. Because of that alone, his anxiety levels have gone down.
Of course, we are not there yet. There are more brain functions to improve in the areas of learning, movement control, behaviors mood and speech, but we are confident that the journey ahead is a good one. He enjoys doing the therapy and mom and dad have a lot of help to stay consistent with the program.

Mendability® for Autism is a completely new, cost-effective, clinically proven therapy for autism.
Mendability® uses Sensory Enrichment therapy to activate brain plasticity in kids with autism and help them overcome the symptoms of autism. The therapy involves parents or therapists administering non-pharmaceutical, carefully constructed sensory exercises. Mendability®'s specific protocols of Sensory Enrichment maximize neuroplasticity and neurogenesis.
In a recent clinical trial conducted by UCI, nearly half the children participating did not continue to exhibit characteristics of autism consistent with a diagnosis after 6 months of Mendability therapy. Read more here
