Ephydrid Flies on Geyser Hill, Yellowstone National Park

Ephydrid flies with eggs on top of bacterial mat in Yellowstone National Park. These flies are specially adapted to living on and around the hot water from geysers and hot springs. The are hunted by wolf spiders you can often see prowling the mats for their next meal.
