Nightshades and Inflammation

I get a lot of questions about nightshades and inflammation, especially because I'm involved in a lot of autoimmune groups.

I don't find that the nightshade food group creates an inflammatory response in everyone, but it definitely depends on what we couple that food with. If nightshades are causing a negative response, we want to know why.

Love your last few words!👏
"Instead of getting rid of the food I'd like you to heal the body." So many physicians, nutritionists will fail to look into why your body is having it's issues and going from there to fix it. Thank you..

The best explanation I've seen yet! I studied holistic nutrition and I always get this question! And as you said, it's from clients who have been diagnosed with autoimmune disorders. The blanket knowledge is people with joint pain/R.A. should leave out nightshades. I 100% agree with you. Let's not cut out food. Let's heal the body!

I quit potatoes and a lot of my inflammation in my hips stopped. Plus I have been able to lose weight quitting tomatoes. Of course these results cannot be confirmed that quitting the nightshades did these things for me solely but it seems to me as so. I do eat as much probiotic foods as possible so my lower GI ought to be OK.

I suffer from HS and Ive been reading articles that ask you to cut out almost eveything from your diet from milk cheese to vegetables and wheat and sugar. It seems not only ridiculous but impossible. Where do you start from??

CAN THE LIVER FILTER THE SOLANINE FROM THE NIGHTSHADE?? That has to be tbe first question. And a liver on high fat diet are gonna struggle with that.

I dont have any issues with eating nightshades, and never have. I have just been diagnosied with hashimoto's, my dad had ra.

I only seem to flare up on gluten so I've cut that out. But my doctor advised me to cut out all diary, eggs, coffee, nightshades, alcohol and all oils.

I'm struggling because I thought, what would I eat ☹

Every since I started eating French fries again, I have felt horrible!! Incredible headaches, anxiety, and all over pain. Is it from that

So I get wide spread pain and exaggerated muscle fatigue from potatoes, and tomatoes. What would be the cause of that response?

It is encouraging to know that I might be able to enjoy nightshades again, if I sort out my potential enzymatic deficiencies. I have three responses to eating nightshades: edeama in my ankles, bloating in my stomach, and an itchy rash around the circumference of my upper body - namely a wide band that stretches from under my breasts to above my belly button. Would you classify this as upper GI? Also, which of your books do you think would be most beneficial for me?

My arm feels weak like it is lacking muscle after eating peppers and tomatoes which I love so much, my ankles ache and I tend to limp a bit, specially in the morning. I would really like to continue eating nightshades, what should I do? I noticed that when I stopped eating nightshades I was okay, such a shame as tomatoes are my favourite food.

So adding enzymes should then take care of it ?

Just a person who have inflamation can talk about food who is not good for you

What happened to lectins? It’s not that they’re anti-inflammatory. Nightshades are high in lectins that inhibit absorption of nutrients.
