I am sure you just overlooked the pitbull. Many people regard them as dangerous, but no more so than the German Shepard and the Rottweiler. I have known 5 or 6 pits. They have all been friendly, kind and gentle when threatened with kindness. Like any other dog, they will deal with extreme threats in an appropriate manner. They are good dogs.

American Pitbull Terrier is known for it's loyalty. Excellent family dog and has great protective and guardianship skills. They are velcro dogs and love kids and their families. They were once known as the nanny dog. In the right hands there is no dog on that list that can come close to loyalty when compared to the American Pitbull Terrier . Super smart and highly trainable. Now I see why you only have 131 subs.

Over my lifetime we have have had a mix of breeds - a Poodle, a Pekingese, an Afghan, Shih tzu's, Scotties, a Mix and black 2 Labs....one which we have now (my boy). They have ALL been truly loyal and pals, treat them with love/respect and you get it back.

All the Bull Terrier breeds, Staffies, English, Amstaff and Pitbulls are incredibly loyal and if you get a nice one are the perfect companion.

You forgot to mention Pit Bull Terriers. They are very loyal, intelligent, affectionate, and (provided that they aren't trained wrong) very gentle to all who don't mean harm to them or theirs.

I never owned a German Shepard, but I would love to. What a majestic looking dog. I like most of the bigger breed dogs. But, because I like animals, even the smaller breeds, I find are very cute. Side note, I like the softness of a rabbit, too.

We have two dogs: a Lab/Aussie mix and a Rotty/Chow-Chow mix. Both of them have the loyalty part of their mixes (the Lab and Rotty parts) which we are so grateful for. The only problem comes from the one with the Chow-Chow mix in him...the tendency to be very stubborn at times.

Beagle highly trainable? They have a reputation for being both stubborn and restless making them hard to train. Also a point to not forget, there are many great dogs in rescues. If however you decide on a puppy, do your research, not just on the breed, including health issues but also how to avoid puppy farms and puppy farm resellers. Personal favorite breed, including for loyalty is Hovawart.

I would say that the vast majority of Rotties are in the Large, to even extra large dog categories, not knowing what you consider as cut-offs for each category. Most male rottweillers come in at least 100lbs, if not more. I know several that are very healthy, not fat, and weigh about 120-130 pounds.
