Just to clarify … chlorophyll is not responsible for the high NIR reflectance of healthy vegetation. NIR reflectance is instead determined by scattering from the numerous air, water, and cell wall interfaces that exist in the spongy mesophyll in the interior of a leaf. So, NIR reflectance in plants is actually a measurement of leaf structure, not pigment concentration.

Hi thank you for sharing these GEE tutorials. I have a question: how can you simply extract the statistics (min, max, mean, st dev., etc) of a single band in a single image? It must be strait forward but I can't find the way to get these statistics.

When I'm doing target detection of NDVI how can I make the calculator only use pixels with at least 75% or more ROI coverage... ie I am afraid a pixel half inside my ROI and half forest is being skewed. Thanks
