I used the settings you used on your wildlife video on your K70 on my K3-11 with the 55-300 PLM lens for wildlife bird photography on the beach got great bird photos using your settings . Thank You Lee

I like your tip about shooting in RAW and setting the display for B&W to get a sense of what it'll look like. However, personally I'd shoot a stop down instead of overexpose -- you're going to have 14+ bit depth in dng so you can always pull more detail out of the shadows, but if you overexpose the highlights you're s# out of luck, and I hate blown out highlights. As you say, the lack of color has been pretty depressing for shooting outdoors lately, and you're video has me motivated to try so B&W for a change. Thanks for posting!! I still love my K5 but I've decided when it's time to buy another DSLR I want the K70. It's all I could ever need. I shoot a lot of film too so my K5 doesn't get a huge workout.

with digital cameras I tend to take exposure compensation down as opposed to up as it tends to overexpose already. but I am not an expert lol

We have so many sea gulls around the coast of New Zealand (probably because we are a small island.
I find it interesting that you're using a DSLR for monochrome, while I usually shoot most of my images with mirrorless.
I'm feeling more inspired to get an action camera again so I can take videos of my events and adventures, but mount it on top of whatever camera I shoot with for the day.

When I shoot black and white (camera setting) my pc converts to colour as soon as the shot loads.

as a fellow Vol (class of 67) I was interested in your B&W settings but the jerky motion caused by walking and talking made me dizzy.
