Why would you need a buddy system if your door is working...? Even if it closes it doesn't matter if it is working.
Meaning to me that she knew it was broken, they'd had this issue thankfully not as long and to hopefully stop them getting sued but to also stop them having to pay to get the door fixed they put in this "buddy system"...
