All You Need Is Love is one of the most familiar and beloved Beatles songs. But there's a heated debate over who is singing the callback to "She Loves You" during the wild conclusion of the song. But we have a unique piece of evidence that may solve this mystery once and for all: video of the actual recording, broadcast live around the globe in 1967 during BBC's Our World.

And as a warning, once you hear (and see!) it...you can't unhear this.

Probably the best episode of “You Can’t Unhear This” to date.

Paul cued it in, they both sing it. I’ve been listening to this song since I was a kid (on vinyl) and didn’t even know it was a question! As you touch on, it’s funny that we think of the She Loves You callback as so far in their past and yet it was only released 4 years later. Personally I’m pretty much the same as I was 4 years ago. These guys grew so much it’s almost unbelievable.

Strange that when John talked about maturing musically he said "I don't wanna be singing She Loves You when I'm thirty", makes me wonder if it was a callback or sarcasm

George: "Paul sang that."
Paul: "Yeah, I sang that."
Fans: "No you didn't."

They sing it together. I just believe in the blend of their voices being so perfect that it almost sounds like one voice.

John: Harpsichord!
Paul: Double Bass!
George: Violin!
Ringo: Drums.

The existence of a "Beatle Supervoice", given by John AND Paul unison also mimicking each one timbers, has been so much underrated even by the best known Beatles musical reviewers, such as Ian MacDonald. In fact he did not noticed that the supervoice is used in virtually all early co-penned singles and at least a half of LP Beatles for Sale (No Reply, Eight Days A Week and Every Little Thing among others). This subject would deserve a Chapter of your Beatle history.

One of the best videos on Youtube. Congratulations. As a 57 year Beatle Nut, I never knew about the Mic Mishap until now. Thank you. I always knew it was John's voice but now I know that Paul was singing it right along with him....just not with a Mic.

I don’t know where the confusion arises. If you watch the ‘all you need is love’ video you can see both Paul and John singing the line. Paul starts it and John joins in.

That raspy bit sounds like John, but the rest sounds like Paul.

Paul’s poor microphone 😂😂😂 And that reaction to his little trill is just adorable 😁

Have you ever noticed that when John and Paul sing in unison, as they do in a good portion of I Want To Hold Your Hand, it almost creates a third voice? Is it possible that J&P were singing in unison? That should satisfy everyone!

I always thought it was Paul kicking it off and John coming in after.

So I was pretty close!

Thanks for another great video. Never knew the live satellite broadcast was where they actually recorded bits of the final record! I always assumed it was lip synced or something.

Feels like I'm watching a breakdown of the Zapruder film.

I think the only thing we can agree on is it wasn't Ringo!

The definition of this channel is quality not quantity

The reason these things happen is that Paul could mimic John really well.

I gave it a listen and I am 99.9% certain that Paul says "Oh yeah!" and John sings the whole bit "She loves you yeah yeah yeah". I can tell by the the "She loves you..." It's the way John annunciates differently than Paul.
