Fun fact Fuji was going to be a 2.5 mile super speedway for the Japanese nascar league

This is horrifyingly fast. No wonder this layout isn't used anymore.

Ultra Softs tyres feels so long ago now, yet it was only 4 years ago

I wasn't all that impressed with Fuji when it was used for the Japanese Grand Prix in the late 2000s for a couple of years, but seeing the original version, I suddenly realize why it's considered a legendary part of the schedule. That said, no wonder Lauda didn't want to run it in a typhoon. It's scary enough dry!

The first corner is completely insane. I think it was the best (or at least one of the best) corner of F1 at that time

I love how high speed this track is no wonder NASCAR considered racing here in the 60s

The first corner has been still kept as the memorial park in Fuji Speed Way . If you want, you can watch it!

Insane Fact: NASCAR used to race there back in the 60s.

Would you be able to do more 2017 cars? Or stuff like jensons brawn or sebastians red bull, that would be amazing i really loved the brawn lap of the 1976 Monaco video

Of the 1:18 lap, the first 43 seconds are spent above 200km/h. Of those 43 seconds, 40.5 were spent above 250km/h. What an insane track.

You should try Isle of Man with the RB X2010! It'd be pretty cool to see.

Greetings from Japan🇯🇵😄

The re-enactment of a modern F1 car running on the old Fuji Speedway (FISCO), which includes a 30-degree bank, a very important milestone in the history of the Japanese automobile industry, is truly moving.😍

Unlike the Suzuka Circuit, which was built mainly by Honda Motors, a private company, FISCO was unique in that it was planned with the participation of Japanese politicians, led by Ichiro Kono. FISCO not only invited American NASCAR, USAC, and IndyCar, but also aimed to "improve Japan's overall automobile technology by hosting stock car and endurance races using Japanese cars."

The year before FISCO opened, the Tomei Expressway also opened, and since then, the "highway era" has seen the performance and durability of Japanese cars improve day by day. The current global reputation of Japanese cars would not have been possible without the Tomei Expressway, Suzuka Circuit, and FISCO.😲

Ichiro Kono had been active as a politician even before Japan lost the war to the Allies in 1945, and understood that one of the reasons Japan lost to the United States was the lack of technology for small internal combustion engines, including automobiles.😢

FISCO was one of the results of learning from prewar Germany and the United States' examples of how they developed their automobile industries through highways and motorsports.

I think that such footage is also very important in understanding the course layout of modern circuits. While footage of modern F1 cars running on FISCO and prewar Monza is exciting, it also makes you realize that the average lap speed is far too fast.😱

This means that no matter what safety measures are taken on the vehicle side, serious accidents cannot be prevented. The current Fuji Speedway (FSW), designed by Hermann Tilke, is sometimes evaluated as having a boring layout compared to FISCO, but footage like this shows that it is the result of understanding the driving performance of modern formula cars and prioritizing the safety of racing drivers.😢

No wonder Lauda parked it - this looks scary in the dry in a modern car, can't imagine what it would have been like during a typhoon in a fiberglass death trap. It's like a faster, banked Dijon.

Dunno if it's available for AC or not, but I'd be interested in seeing a lap of Autopolis, ever since they sponsored Benetton back in the day with an eye toward hosting the race that eventually went to Okayama in '94.

Great lap on a classic old circuit. 👍👍
Shame they don't use Fuji Speedway in F1 now in days. 🏁
