I use chat gpt and although I can see why people might believe that Google, s search engine is in trouble, I still find myself looking things up with Google. Ai is useful for quick off-the-cuff questions like "what is the population of China' etc, but if you notice, Google is implementing AI on their searches, which summarize an answer.

I believe these so-called analysts are severely downplaying the scale of the P-Hub search bar. I don’t think LLM’s are going to be replacing it anytime soon.

Google search might decline, but Google's advertising network goes far beyond search. With the introduction of performance max, more of these video and display networks are used for advertising by the average Google Ads punter. The revenue isn't going anywhere. There are no websites with grok or gpt analytics installed. Google is the standard for user data tracking. It knows more about you than you do.

LLMs might have the ability to create cohorts based on prompts, but it lacks the data to understand how people are using those responses. So here’s a question: If I’m a small business and I want to be seen or heard, how does my small business benefit from GROK or GPT? And please don’t tell me small businesses will gravitate to Twitter. The real world doesn’t give a crap about Twitter.

If you listen carefully to Sundar on the last earnings call you clearly hear him saying that these LLM’s allow for different kind of questions.
It’s hard to comprehend for you intellectuals but the most monetizable searches are quite simple queries. It is when you are looking for products or searching services nearby you when companies want to bid for your ‘click’.
Nobody wants to advertise next to you trying to improve on your email text… or trying to get a working code out of these ai tools

Google search is not meant to answer those types of comparison and opinionated questions. Its for easy access search with simple facts. Those kind of questions you would use Gemini 2.0 for.
