NYC's NEWEST Grocery Store : Exploring Wegman's in Manhattan

Wegman's is NYC's Newest Grocery Store and it opened in Manhattan's Astor Place neighborhood. Its main highlight is its extensive selection of prepared foods, which includes everything from ready-to-eat meals to freshly baked goods. There is also a lower level for the traditional grocery store where produce and frozen items can be purchased.

One of the great things about Wegs is that they use local farmers etc for a lot of their produce and products.

I'm 27 and have been going to Wegmans here in Western NY since I was a baby. There's nothing like it. It's amazing to see people look in awe at stuff that I've taken for granted my whole life. Just hate that they didn't hire me when I was looking for a job in high school.

The Sakanaya at this store is just amazing. It's probably the only place in USA where you can buy fish directly flown from the Toyosu market at a reasonable price. All sushi grade, fresh fish that are rarely available outside of Japan. So glad that this is not a one time thing and it will be permanent operation

Growing up in Western NY, Wegmans was always the best supermarket chain out there and only continues to expand it's presence around the country and they have a reputation for treating their employees pretty well when compared to other grocery stores. There subs are huge for the most part. Please, no comparison to Publix at all! Wegmans is the major leagues compared to Publix.

Grew up in Rochester NY, where it all began. Cher was here some years ago and went shopping at the Flagship store in Pittsford. She was so impressed that she wrote corporate and asked them to come to Cali😊

I joined Wegman's here in Washington DC late last July as in-store shopper ( part-time online shopper purchases and pick and pack) and it's a nice store. It opened opened a year ago. I never heard of a Wegman's Grocery store before. Though big, our store is not even the biggest of Wegmans stores. I never worked in a grocery store before. I really like the job/work and co workers and even customers and speaking with the Instacart shoppers picking up and also, purchasing items for customers for delivery.😃

I've been to Wegman's upstate NY a few times and it is a pleasure to shop in Wegman's. Wegman's has a legendary reputation and devoted following. I hope to see one on Long Island soon as possible.

Wegmans Food Markets is a supermarket chain with 108 stores located along the east coast. Founded in 1916 by John and Walter Wegman, the company continues to be owned and operated by the Wegman family.

The secret to Wegmans shopping with a 1:3 or 1:2 ratio. Boy 2-3 cheap things like boxed pasta, soup, canned goods, or spaghetti sauce for every fancy, expensive thing you "splurge" on. That keeps your average item cost from requiring a second mortgage. I might get the lobster mac n' cheese but I will also get a bunch of cheaper meals from the other aisles. (-a 50 year long Wegmans shopper from Rochester to Ithaca to Syracuse, now in VA and NC).

I’ve been to Wegmans in NJ and PA and this one definitely lives up to those. It’s a very nice supermarket. I wish there were one a little closer to me out in Queens.
