What has been your biggest struggle in pursuing a music career? I don't have all of the answers for every situation, but I'll do my best to continue to provide value on this channel in hopes of helping those who are looking for clarity and guidance.

My biggest struggle currently just boils down to feeling overwhelmed with all my sub-jobs - between marketing, creating consistently, expanding on other revenue streams, making my videos (which are pretty involved). Feeling like I’m not doing enough and yet feeling burnt out from all I am doing at the same time.

I am happy to say I am in a good place (thanks to your advice among others like you!) all from organic growth on YouTube which has also led to organic growth on music streaming sites!

I have been a musician for 12yrs. (and never worked a job, and still don't have one) and I'm satisfied because it pays the bills. I had a chance to be famous back in 86 and wanted to until I met Daryl Hall from the band "Hall &Oates" and he explained everything that I would need to be famous and all of the work that I had to do not only to get famous but to remain famous and the advise kinda made me have a change of heart. And I decided to just remain a local musician and I've never been happier and more satisfied. Thank you, Mr. Hall.

The insane amount of "short-form content" that is reccomended for someone to put out on the various forms of social media just for one song is insane. You can spend months making content to promote one song, rather than spending those months making more music, and/or even practicing your true craft. It's a different industry for sure. Really great video.

We definitely take numbers for granted online ‼️ You’re not promised any reactions. Keep doing what you love regardless.

Your videos are a great way to center and refocus whenever I’m overwhelmed by the industry.

Man, i never shared what I feel publicly, but your videos are a therapy, it builds a huge confidence on our selves everytime we decide to go off, start making excuses, and not finishing many projects a video of yours pops up and you drive us to keep going 🙌.
Would never ever find how i could thank you for that but I will always be very grateful for your support.

My biggest struggle has been figuring out what content I can do that isn’t out of character for me. I can make quality music, videos, pictures, and graphics, but I know that I have to leverage the social platforms I feel I can work best in and then make genuine content that gets people’s attention and keeps it (while having a schedule that keeps my output consistent and not overwhelming for me 😅). The opportunities are there. If I’m not getting where I want to, it’s on me. Some of it takes time, some of it takes me getting my act together.

My biggest struggle has ALWAYS been getting a supportive team around me with the same passion that I have that wanna work just like me, that's always been my biggest problem. Wearing all the hats

Thanks for the negative clickbait and still turning out positive. I really think that it is easier than ever to be independent artist on your own. Just gotta follow what you love and even if you are down from time to time - understand that everyone is and it is normal thing. Thanks for your positive coaching, there is deeper truth radiating through your words!

When it comes to "oversaturation", I've always seen it as a "limitation" and in my belief, limitations spark creativity.
Don't focus on what everyone else is making, be creative and focus on your music.
There is an audience for everyone, it's gonna take time, have patience and you'll find succes :)

You are right on. It does feel like making the best music you can matters the least in today's music climate. Creativity has become a bad thing in a way. It's heartbreaking for all of us who grew up surrounded by tons of creative, talented and innovative artists and bands,

The industry at the lowest and highest levels is also way too saturated. On top of what you mentioned in the video there’s this AND, the point of entry to get into music and start doing is way too low, far too easy and too accessible which is both good and bad.

Every single aspect of professional musicianship is so, so oversaturated in 2023.
I love the creative side of music as much as I ever have, I’ve even built a reputation as a decent videographer over the last few years. But seriously: I wish we could put the whole social media genie back in the bottle. I hate it with a passion. And marketing. Urgh. Every second spent arsing around with this sh*t is a second I aren’t creating.
Take me back to the 90’s.

Wow.. I recently took a little time from music. Just a couple of weeks, but I feel so much better. I just so happen to come across this before I started up again. Thank you! I really appreciate this. Keep this up!

Wow Adam, this is such an important video for all aspiring artists. It really puts a lot of things in perspective. Especially the “300 people in the house” idea. I recently got over 100 listeners on Spotify for the first time and I thought that was amazing. I went back to Instagram (after deleting it for some time) and found the engagement to be so much lower than on other social platforms like Reddit/Discord. It kinda discouraged me for a second but I realized that I just have to find my audience and stick with a consistent routine and strategy. Putting the wheels in motion for different strategies in order to get myself out there and this is an amazing video to listen to. “Comparison is the thief of joy” resonated with me so much. Thank you for all you do, you’ve inspired me a ton just off this one video. - Caleb

Really good insight. I love how you say “Now they get the chance to be an artist”. I think it’s so great there’s more musicians. It shouldn’t be seen as competition, it’s art

This was such an amazing video. I definitely will admit that I've said things are "over-saturated" right now. But the way that you said it kind of put me at ease with that thought. Thank you!
