There's actually 3. First are earplugs they provide game sound and voice, second are playing white noise to cut out crowd, third are used for the mic.

8 years ago, this was the golden era of LCS EU or LEC whatever we call them now. 3 very good teams and SK Gaming. To think that FNC didn't make S2 Worlds, they were as good as any team in the world that year.

I'm a DotA player, have been since 2006. I stopped playing DotA after LoL released, and I liked it, good change of pace, something new, definitely a different game. Riot did a fantastic job with the business model and the game has worked out well for them, Since I got my DotA2 invite last November I've only played ARAM's with a buddy here and there, almost a year later I'm still playing the game I love, DotA, but I will still check out this event to see how the game has evolved. No hate.

Actually threee: one for soundproof to avoid hearing the commentaries from the casts, and one for teamspeak and an earpiece for game audio.

It took football and baseball years to become popular sports back when they first started. Also take into account that "e-sports" covers a huge number of games (fighting, RTS, MOBA, FPS, not to mention individual titles within these genres) and the fact that it's still very young. There's plenty of time and potential for it to grow, especially with the internet around.

We re the first generation who plays videogames this competetivly.
I think esports will grow in the next 2-3 years

I totally agree with you, doesn't matter how many bad votes you get, you're right. People think you're raging at other sports, they misunderstood you. You have a calm vision of other sports to be honest, different from me, I always point what's ridiculous or not in other sports. And in fact, the truth is... I don't saw nothing wrong with video-games. Keep fighting for a "better virtual world" bro, so will I. CHEERS!

This comes from a: Ex - WoW HIGH competitive & END game player. My Ex-Job.

Im not sure if it has the most players, but the play time is about 1, 300, 000 hours (last time I checked) which makes it the mosted played video game in the world.

Dude they do this for a living. They stream to make most of their money. People watch streams of good teams. Winning a big tournament gets you views which equals more money. On top of that you get a heft chunk of change for winning

Winning a tournament is the equivalent of a bonus AND a promotion/raise for these players. I'd say that's pretty damn fantastic and something well-worth being emotionally invested into.

Yes i completely agree that this profession is no laughing matter and Hours upon hours are put into it. However all i am stating is that professional athletes have to give continual hours in honing their skills as well as learning the repetition also learning the tactics. In addition to that they must put in hours of physical training and continue to eat well. It's a lifestyle being a professional athlete, where as being a profession lgamer is a job. it does take lots of hard work i agree 100%

Just to clarify.I love both playing and watching soccer. When i mean complex i mean exactly complex. Not "better" or "harder". For example 100-meter sprint. It is hard to compete, but the action itself is not complex by any means. Games have different amount of reaction(clicking)/thinking(desicion-making), just as sport with its physical/thinking, but on average, games have more variables and decision-making than sport.

I just want that "thinking competitiveness" was treated as high as physical.

the headset around their neck is for the mic, and i believe it is theirs, and the thingies around their ears are soundproof headphones and earbuds. so that the shoutcasters will not let them know about ward placements, incoming ganks and shit like that.

I have to say that I don't really like Ocelote, but when SK won that game against CLG, that was... AWESOME :D

While this is true, it is also true in major league gaming, not so much the physical aspect, but there is a lot of training and time that goes into being at that level of competition. It is reflexes and tactics and all of these have to be fine tuned and honed over hours of practice and play before they can compete on such high levels.

Actually, some of them wear 3 sets, earplugs type as headphones, one set for noise isolation (since they are not in special booth) and last for microphone.

When I was a child, I used to be fan of F.B. Barcelona, nowadays, I freakin' love M5

I can definitely see where you are coming from. Especially about the physical training. Doesn't take an extremely fit person to play League of Legends by any means.
