Drivers Are Ruining Gig Economy

Everyone wants to blame Walmart, DoorDash, Uber Eats and other apps for reducing the base pay and increasing the miles they expect you to drive. However, I say it is the drivers who are ruining the gig economy, the gig apps. Why? Simple, some drivers will take anything and everything they can and do not stop and think about how much they are actually making after expenses.

I'm currently seeing $7.00 batch orders in my market! Being pitiful! Any driver's taking those are just better off going to work at McDonald's. I refuse to take "peasant pay!" And let's not even bring up the HORRIBLE PAY on the Sam's Club orders! 😕😕😕

Gas is 3.80 in Albuquerque market today. This is the gig delivery stopping point where fuel is not worth any orders especially low ball orders. Customers will have to get it themselves until gas prices go down for me.

I agree with you, my market used to be really good. Now because there’s too many drivers and they are taking low pay crappy orders is just getting worse. Why would they pay more when other drivers are taking those low pay ones.

Part of the problem is that everything is so damn unreasonably expensive that even in low cost northern MI 25 bucks an hour is not enough anymore.

I've preached this for years! The workers determine their pay as a collective whole!

I've been in the gig economy for over four years now. And I see the same pattern some upstart gig will come along and we'll be great it first and then they start declining in their pay like all the rest of them do. Sadly, there will always be someone that will accept the garbage orders. Right now I'm experiencing a downshift with spark because a lot of students are out ofCollege. So they're throwing the better orders to the students and the newer drivers. Ask why I keep a lot of gig out eggs in my basket.

This is true. If the apps couldn’t get anyone to take trash offers, they wouldn’t be offered.

In Oklahoma that’s all I see are bad ones like that now. I just stopped turning on the app.

I usually start off the day between 7 and 8 AM with a Spark order or two and after that I switch over to my other apps for the most part. I don’t like to sit around and there just aren’t enough orders they keep me busy with Spark alone. I run five apps right now.

Exactly right. DD used to be $8 minimum now it’s $2.25. They all don’t give a damn about us.

💯💯💯. This is what my spark orders are looking like. The only orders worth it anymore are the express shop and deliver but those are few and far between. If other drivers valued themselves more Walmart would have to pay.

Yup. We can force orders to surge by letting them sit there but people don't have standards.

The answer to shady algorithms dropping your base pay is multiapping. The more apps the merrier
